"ABOUT THE PRODUCTION
One of the greatest theatre directors of our time, Simon McBurney, makes his ENO debut in this major new collaboration with Complicite. A Dog’s Heart is a new work by Russian composer Alexander Raskatov, based on a classic novella by one of the Soviet era’s best-known writers. Banned for many years under Stalin’s rule and now a Russian cultural phenomenon, Mikhail Bulgakov’s absurdist tale tells of a stray mongrel that becomes human after a Frankenstein-like organ transplant by his master.
This exciting new staging is a collaboration with Complicite, the acclaimed UK theatre company recently described by The Sunday Times as ‘a national treasure’. Artistic director Simon McBurney’s remarkable gift for turning complex ideas into powerful visual poetry is well known, and his stunning vision for A Dog’s Heart has been realised to captivating effect."
Having done workshops with Simon McBurney, and always following the work of Complicite, and working closely with
'Blind Summit Theatre' on the production of 'Call of the Wild' (see blog below), Ashleigh cannot wait to be part of this
stunning collaboration.
